Chapter 17

Our honeymoon lasted a week and we spent most of the time engaging in the act of sexual intercourse with each other. Carolena insisted that I only refer to it as making love in her presence. Regardless of the name, it was the most pleasurable thing I had felt as a human so far, and I was disappointed when our honeymoon ended and we didn’t have the same amount of time to set aside to make love.

I came back home from my first guard shift after the honeymoon and saw Carolena standing in front of the counter. She ran up, embraced, and kissed me, circling her finger on my chest and whispering into my ear, "Lunch will be done in about half an hour, so we’ve got some time to fool around." I smiled, and Carolena was about to lock the door when Lily burst in and said,

“Just because you got hitched to my Allie doesn't mean you get him all to yourself.”

“Yes it does!” Carolena pushed Lily away from me and slapped her. “Allen told me that you groped him! You disgusting harlot!”

“Yeah, and it was better for him than whatever you can do!” Lily was about to slap Carolena back, but I grabbed her hand before she could and said,

“You’re not welcome here, Lily! Leave us alone!” Lily’s face turned red, and I could feel her legs tremble as she leaned more of her weight onto me.

“Oh, Allie, I know you’d love to do it rough. You’re such a beast!” I let go of her hand and backed away as she continued to speak.

“Well, I’m actually here on official business. Some friends of mine need gold, and we’ve got word that that Android city has a whole stockpile, and who better to help me steal some than you, Allie! You were an Android for a century, right? You must know that place like the back of your hand!”

“The AEF does stockpile gold for electronics manufacturing, but why would I help you? Why would I leave my wife to get gold for your friends?”

“Because you have to! Go talk to Maury and he’ll vouch for me.” I stormed out and made my way to Maury’s office.

I walked so quickly that I was practically running, and I stormed into Maury’s office and said:

“I just got married and you’re telling me to go back to the AEF with that woman?!?”

“Calm down, Allen! Sit down and I’ll explain.” I clenched my fist and inhaled and sat down in front of Maury’s desk. Maury spoke:

“That’s a good man, Allen. I’m assuming Lily came by and gave you the gist of what you two will be doing. The Central Bank of Tyre needs more gold. We don’t have enough to back up all the paper notes. If people can’t exchange bulls for gold, the whole economy collapses. It happened when my grandfather was mayor. The riots lasted for weeks. Allen, when we first met, I told you that you’d have to serve Tyre to earn my trust.
